Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our friendly driver will greet you and transfer you to Moshi or Arusha, just 45 minutes away. Check in at the hotel and meet your experienced mountain guide for a comprehensive briefing on your upcoming trek.
Day 2: Rongai Route - Day 1: Rongai Gate (1,800 m) - First Cave Camp (2,600 m)
Your adventure begins as your guide picks you up from the hotel and drives you to the Rongai Gate, approximately 2 hours away. The trek takes you through lush forests, offering glimpses of wildlife and serene natural beauty. After a lunch break, you’ll continue to the first camp on the Rongai route, nestled on the quieter north side of the mountain.
Day 3: Rongai Route - Day 2: First Cave Camp (2,600 m) - Kikelewa Camp (3,600 m)
Today’s hike entails 5-6 hours of trekking, featuring a steep climb with the stunning Mawenzi peak coming into view. After exploring caves and enjoying lunch, the terrain becomes less steep as you make your way to the camp nestled in a sheltered valley.
Day 4: Rongai Route - Day 3: Kikelewa Camp (3,600 m) - Mawenzi Tarn (4,330 m)
Prepare to be mesmerized by breathtaking views as you navigate through a steep hike, culminating in a night at Mawenzi Tarn. Situated just below the Mawenzi summit, this camp offers unparalleled views of both Kilimanjaro peaks.
Day 5: Rongai Route - Day 4: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330 m) - Kibo Camp (4,700 m)
Traverse through a lunar landscape on your way to the higher camp, Kibo Camp, situated below the Kibo summit. Marvel at the spectacular vistas of the Kenyan plains as you trek for 5-6 hours through the alpine desert environment.
Day 6: Rongai Route - Day 5: Kibo Camp (4,700 m) - Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) - Horombo Hut (3,720 m)
Today marks the final summit push to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa! Embark on a 12-hour trek, beginning at midnight, and witness a breathtaking sunrise upon reaching the summit. Celebrate your achievement before descending to Kibo huts for a meal and then continuing to Horombo huts for an overnight stay.
Day 7: Rongai Route - Day 6: Horombo Hut (3,720 m) - Marangu Gate (1,830 m) - Return to the Hotel
Descend through a picturesque rainforest to the Marangu Gate, where you’ll conclude your trek with a delightful 5-6hour walk. Celebrate your accomplishment with the group before being transferred back to your hotel for a well-deserved rest.
Days 8: Flight Home from Kilimanjaro (JRO) After the Climb
As your journey comes to an end, cherish your last moments in Tanzania before our driver picks you up and escorts you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
