Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our friendly driver will greet you and transfer you to Moshi or Arusha, just 45 minutes away. Check in at the hotel and meet your experienced mountain guide for a comprehensive briefing on your upcoming trek.

Day 2: Moshi – Marangu Gate (1,860 m) – Mandara Hut (2,700 m)

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we’ll head to Kilimanjaro National Park gate (1,860 m) to begin your trek. Passing through the dense rainforest, keep an eye out for the thumbless black and white colobus monkeys. After about 4 hours of hiking, you’ll reach Mandara Hut (2,700 m). Enjoy a well-deserved rest and take in the stunning views of the Kenyan interior from Maundi Crater.

Day 3: Mandara Hut (2,700 m) – Horombo Hut (3,700 m)

Start your day with an early breakfast before trekking past the treeline into shrubs. After approximately 4 to 6 hours, you’ll arrive at Horombo Hut (3,700 m), where breathtaking views of Mawenzi, Kibo peak, and the Masai steppe await. Relax and enjoy dinner at Horombo Hut.

Day 4: Horombo Hut (3,700 m) – Zebra Rocks (3,980 m) – Horombo Hut (3,700 m)

Today, focus on acclimatization with a 2 to 4-hour trek to Zebra Rocks (3,980 m). Marvel at the distinctive black and white stripes of the rock formation before returning to Horombo Hut for a cooked lunch. Rest and recharge for the next day’s hike.

Day 5: Horombo Hut (3,700 m) – Kibo Hut (4,700 m)

Prepare for a long and challenging trek as you ascend to Kibo Hut (4,700 m). Pass the “last waterpoint” and the barren “saddle” before reaching Kibo Hut in approximately 5 to 6 hours. Rest early tonight in preparation for the summit push.

Day 6: Kibo Hut (4,700 m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – Horombo Hut (3,700 m)

Today is summit day! Begin the trek in the dark, navigating through frozen lava ash to reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) at sunrise. Take in the breathtaking views from the “Roof of Africa” before descending back to Kibo Hut for a warm meal. After a short rest, continue to Horombo Hut (3,700 m) for overnight.

Day 7: Horombo Hut (3,700 m) – Marangu Gate (1,860 m) – Moshi

Trek through heather and moor zones, stopping for lunch at Mandara Hut (2,700 m). Descend through lush rainforest to Kilimanjaro National Park gate (1,860 m) after approximately 6 hours of hiking.
