A 3 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro safari offers a compact yet unforgettable journey through iconic wildlife landscapes and world-class game viewing.
After an early breakfast, you depart from Arusha and head toward the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Although the drive is long, it remains consistently spectacular, unfolding with dramatic scenery along the way. As you climb into the crater highlands, you make a brief stop at the rim, where an otherworldly view of the Ngorongoro Crater creates a truly unforgettable first impression.
Continuing onward, the landscape gradually opens up as you enter the Serengeti, and you quickly understand why its name means “endless plains” in the local language. Covering nearly 6,900 square miles (18,000 square kilometers), the park stretches endlessly to the horizon, challenging your sense of scale and distance. At the same time, the Serengeti supports the Great Migration, hosting nearly two million wildebeest, vast herds of zebra, and numerous antelope species, including impalas and Thomson’s gazelles. Meanwhile, for big cats and large predators, this iconic ecosystem offers exceptional opportunities to spot lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas.
On this day we suggest a very early wake up in order to do an early morning game drive (when the animals are more active) and see one of the best sunrises you’ll ever witness. After the game drive, we will return to the camp for a rewarding brunch and then we’ll proceed to Ngorongoro, the 8th Wonder of the Natural World.
The crater spreads for 102 sq miles and has 2,000 ft high walls, making it virtually Noah’s ark and inhabiting almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa. It’s one of the very rare locations in the whole continent where you can witness the black rhino. The concentration of African wildlife is the greatest on the continent. The crater has a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a great concentration of flamingos, a forest and open plains. It’s also famous for its elephants which are the largest in the world and have huge tusks. This is due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses.
We start the day very early and descend onto the crater floor, immediately immersing ourselves in an unforgettable morning of wildlife viewing in one of the most stunning places on Earth. As the morning unfolds, we enjoy an exciting game drive before pausing for a relaxed picnic lunch near the beautiful Hippo Lake. Afterward, we continue with a short final game drive, and then ascend the crater walls and exit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area en route to Arusha. By late afternoon, we typically arrive back in Arusha around 5 pm; however, we remain flexible to accommodate flight schedules or any other travel needs.
